Amassed over the coruse of 40 years, Şükrü Bozluolçay’s art collection has classical, modern and contemporary artworks from 19th century to present. “Laterna Magica: Dr. Şükrü Bozluolçay Collection”, published by Bozlu Art Publications, penned by art historian Özlem İnay Erten, surveys the development of arts in Turkey in a chronological, manner mediated by the pieces in the collection, and offers a thorough perspective on Turkish art history.
Şükrü Bozluolçay Collection spans from the works by the generation of Military Painters who produced the first examples of canvas painting in Turkey, to 1914 Generation of Artists who worked in the years between the Second Constitutional Era (1908) and the creation of the Republic, to the first artists’ organizations like Müstakiller (Independents) and d grubu (Group D), and traces the emergence of Paris School of 50s and 60s, Generation of 1968 and includes works of art by contemporary artists. Bozluolçay Collection reflects the cultural, artistic and social transformations of the historical process, and the new forms of expression and intellectual developments, meanwhile making room for contemporary art production, open doors for artists of the future.
Bozlu Art Project Mongeri Building is preparing to host the exhibition prepared in tandem with the publication of “Laterna Magica: Dr. Şükrü Bozluolçay Collection” from January 12 to March 26, 2022. In the exhibition bringing together classical, modern and contemporary representatives of Turkish art from the 19th century to the present, art lovers will not only be able to view iconic artworks that have left a mark in our art history, but also examples from Dr. Şükrü Bozluolçay’s “Artists Ateliers Collection”.
